We offer for your consideration the following;
AN UNUSUAL SAN FRANCISCO DOXEY IMPRINT

Marshall, B. STORY OF A WATCH AND OTHER SKETCHES. San Francisco: William Doxey, 1894. Author’s edition. Octavo. Brown cloth and pictorial red cloth, gilt. Patterned endpapers. All edges gilt. 149pp. Illustrated by Isabelle Morrison. Twenty-eight black and white line drawings. Very good. Inscribed by the author to Arthur B. Towne, June 30, 1894 in San Francisco. Harlan lark #17. Wright III, #3613. No. II of the Silver Lining Series. A curious book. The printing begins at the gutter and flows to the fore-edge. Illustrations are printed normally. Harlan states undoubtedly that this was Doxey’s most eccentric published piece. The author firmly believed that books should be held horizontally rather than vertically, and Doxey printed the text to adhere to this belief. As noted the plates were printed normally causing an awkward feel to the book. Unusual and quite scarce. $175.00
