The first edition of Hales' (1677-1761) first published book, the foundation text of plant physiology. He later discovered that plants grow by taking carbon dioxide from the air, and was the first to quantitatively measure arterial blood pressure. PRINTING AND THE MIND OF MAN 189(a). Dibner 26.
