[Rarebooks] FS: First Edition of Thoreau's CAPE COD, in original cloth

 From our latest internet catalog--American Transcendentalists: Ralph 
Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau--consisting of 55 items, mostly 
new arrivals and with many autographed pieces. Highlights include 
several letters, manuscript items, and inscribed books by Emerson, a few 
bound copies of the Dial magazine edited by Emerson and Margaret Fuller, 
and a number of first editions by Thoreau including WALDEN and the issue 
of his first book that prompted his famous quote: "I have now a library 
of nearly nine hundred volumes, over seven hundred of which I wrote 
myself."  We list two copies of those 700.

Edition. Original purple Z cloth. Binding D, no priority. BAL 20115: 
2,040 copies printed. Borst A5.1.a states that 2000 copies were printed. 
Catalogue dated December 1864. Modern bookplate on front free endpaper. 
Internally quite clean. Spine gilt bright with some fraying to the tips 
and edges. Very Good. 		$500.00
