Hodgkin, John. CALLIGRAPHIA GRAECA ET POECILOGRAPHIA GRAECA: a Work 
Explaining and Exemplifying the Mode of Forming the Greek Characters... According 
to the Method Adopted by Dr. Thomas Young, and Exhibiting a Copious 
Collection of the Various Forms of the Letters and of Their Connexions and 
Contractions. Engraved by H. Ashby. London: Sold by Simpkin, Marshall and Co. et al. 
1838. Folio (14" tall). A total of 4 leaves of letterpress and 19 copper 
engraved plates, including the original 1794 engraved title. Orig. brown cloth 
over printed boards, some light soiling, but overall a fine copy. A 
presentation copy to Katherine Backhouse with a long personal inscription on the 
front free endpaper, signed by John Hodgkin, dated 7.6.1839. Some foxing.

The first part was written and engraved in 1794, then a second part was 
added (with plates 8-19) and together they were first published in 1807. The 
1838 edition is the 2nd edition. Both are quite scarce.
