[Rarebooks] FS: Julia Pirotte Photographs Pablo Picasso and Bompard Transit Camp Marseilles

FS:

Julia Pirotte, Polish Photographer.  Worked as a Photojournalist during WW II in Marseille and was active with the Resistance. In 1948 she covered the World Congress of Intellectuals for Peace of 1948 in Wrocław.  Pablo Picasso attended the congress.  Here we have an original silver print of Pablo Picasso sitting at the Congress reading.

2) Julia Pirotte photo of Woman in Hotel Bompard Transit Camp in Marseilles. Silver print from Original negative. 6 1/2 x 9 inches. Signed by Pirotte below her Copyright stamp on verso. In pencil on verso "R 41/1" (Regular price $1800.00) mailing list price $1500.00

Both photos are in fine condition. Tip of the Picasso photo little creased.

3) Julia Pirotte Photo postcard titled: "F.S. 1 PIAF - Marseilles, 1943". Signed in ink by Julia Pirotte together with a reproduced photo of Pierre Granville (Louis Blesy) resistance leader of Marseilles. On the verso Julia Pirotte has written "Aout 1944, Marseille Lt. Colonel Pierre Granville (Louis Blesy)" Either signed in print on front, or in ink "Pirotte" The Colonel Blesy is not being sold as signed.  Uncommon. Fine. Both approx post card size.
