Rhau Grunenberg. 1521). 4to. (28)pp. German text. Title within an ornate 
woodcut border. Text with 26 large woodcuts (4-5/8" x 3-3/4"), the woodcuts being 
attributed to both Hans and Lucas Cranach. Modern full brown morocco. Some 
old soiling to text. Small paper repair at blank fore-edge of title.

"Scenes depicted in 26 woodcut illustrations on opposite pages from the 
life of Christ parodied in contrast to the Pope's life and government. The 
latter are followed by quotations from the canon law, the former by quotations 
chosen chiefly from the Gospels" (in the OCLC record "notes"). Also, "the 
selection of these quotations was presumably begun by Luther and continued by 
Melanchthon assisted by Schwertfeger." See Benzing #1015; Fairfax Murray
