Sagramoso, Michel. ELISA. FAVOLA MARITIMA... (Verona: Nella Stamperia
di Angelo Tamo. No date, but 1627). First edition. 4to. (8),312pp. Fine
copper engraved architectural title by Girolamo Viscar Orefice,
containing the arms of the book's dedicatee, Giorgio Aldobrandini.
Woodcut head & tail pieces and historiated capitals. Cont. limp vellum,
soiled, spine darkened. Some worming to back cover. Small, old ink
stain in blank fore-margin of final 4 leaves. Very scarce.  $1,250.00

First and only edition, a maritime fable in five acts with a prologue,
set on the fictional island of Manarre, off the coast of the "eastern
peoples", the home of a pearl fishery. Sagramoso was also the author of
a ballad in honor of the victory of Louis XIII of France in the siege
