1/2 roll tooled pigskin, hand lettered spine, over wooden boards
covered with a parchment fragment of a 15th c. Biblical manuscript. To
preserve the integrity of the binding, a third work, that had been
removed, was replaced with leaves of modern blank paper. Cont.
inscriptions at the bottom of each title-page are to Christophores
Schillingus from his brother Ferdinand. Small engraved armorial
bookplate of the Nordkirchen Library on front pastedown.    $2,000.00

1: this work by Valla (ca. 1406-1457) is a long eulogy of Ferdinand I
of Aragon. VD16 V302.  Only 2 copies in North America recorded by OCLC.
II: the work by Pezel (1539-1604) generally treats of the generation of
mankind with Biblical & historical examples, and also concerns the
development of the fetus and the miracles of childbirth and motherhood.
VD 16 P2117.  Only 2 copies worldwide recorded by OCLC.
Neither work is in the BMC or Adams.
