(Robert Dechert‟s typed slip tipped in reading: “This book came from the Library of Louise Godey McMichael and Maria Godey Bradlee at „Pine Woods‟ near Sudbury, Mass., in June, 1951. The binding … is made from one of Louise‟s favorite dresses, in accordance with her habit of preserving the memory of favorite dresses … when they were to be discarded for further wear.” The binding is a kind of soft figured brocade with a leather label, and is well preserved. The book consists of essays on writers and others, including Virginia Woolf, Ezra Pound, Housman, Proust, Gide, et al.
