Darby, George. CALCUTTA CURIOSITIES. Calcutta: Thacker, Spink & Co., 
1912. 10 leaves printed recto only. Illus. with 10 b/w plates. Sm. 
Obl. 4to. Stiff gray pictorial wrappers with green cotton ties. 
Second impression. Ten lithographic plates, each with several strong, 
captioned images of sketches of contemporary life: crows, native 
police, five different kinds of social classes of carts and carriages 
with their drivers, colonial types (not at all complimentary), street 
sellers and shops and shop signs - such as barbers, hotel, butchers, 
tea sellers, etc. Interesting both topographically and socially, 
being both accurate and satirical. Quite uncommon. OCLC & COPAC show 
only two copies of this edition, Oxford and BL, and two copies of the 
third, and one of a 1920 edition. A very good copy with minor wear 
and soil spots on wrappers, small chip to corner of front wrapper,

U.S. funds on a U.S. bank. New York residents please add appropriate 
sales tax or forward a tax id number. Libraries and Institutions can 
be billed. Trade allowance. Postage for Domestic orders is $5.00 for 
the first book and $2.50 for each additional volume. Books are 
normally shipped Media Mail. For international orders, postage is 
calculated individually. All books may be returned in original 
condition for any reason within two weeks with prior notification.
