Edinburgh, 1982.  Blue cloth with dust wrapper, 11 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches.  Near fine/very good.  Review slip laid-in.  Illustrated throughout with engravings, etc., from the books in the catalogue.  A very nice copy. ($50)  $30

SHAFER, Henry Burnell.  THE AMERICAN MEDICAL PROFESSION 1783 TO 1850.  N. Y., 1936.  Printed wrappers, lightly soiled with a bit of chipping and wrinkling to spine.  8 3/4 x 6 inches.  The author's doctoral dissertation presented to Columbia University.  In addition to tracing the history of the American medical profession it also contains much information on early medical literature and magazines.  ($50)  $20

GRAY.  A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE WORKS OF SIR ISAAC NEWTON, TOGETHER WITH A LIST OF BOOKS ILLUSTRATING HIS WORKS.  Cambridge, 1907.  First of this (best) edition.  8 3/4 x 7 inches.  Cloth-backed boards, lightly chipped.  An exlibrary copy with library bookplate and shelf number on bottom of cloth portion of front cover, but no stamp on the title page.  A very good copy, overall.  ($50)  $20

[GROLIER CLUB].  CATALOGUE OF AN EXHIBITION OF THE WORKS OF CHARLES DICKENS WITH AN INTRODUCTION BY ROYAL CORTISSOZ.  N.Y., 1913.  1 of 300 copies.  9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches.  White cloth lightly age-toned, stamped in gold with red leather title label to spine.  Housed in a slip-case with chipping and some light soiling.  Spine beginning to separate.  Text particularly clean and bright.  Scarce in this condition.  The catalogue includes many U.S. editions of Dickens' works.  ($90) $20

Green cloth, 8 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches.  Sun-fading to spine and portions of front and back covers, else a near fine copy.  Laid-in is an article from the Saturday Review by Christopher Morley wherein he reviews this book.  "Perhaps there is only one simplicity greater than that of suppressions and expurgations.  That is to suppose that they are always foolish, or that there will ever be a time when men will not encourage others to think the kind of thoughts that will be most convenient."

DUVEEN, Denis I. and KLICKSTEIN, Herbert S.  A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE WORKS OF ANTOINE LAURENT LAVOISIER 1743 - 1794, WITH A PREFACE BY JOHN F. FULTON.  London, 1954.  Blue cloth in dust wrapper, 10 1/2 x 7 inches.  Fine/near fine.  Dust wrapper with just some light age-toning and minimal wear, now protected in a mylar sleeve.  Illustrated with facsimiles.  A supplement was published later.  An excellent, scarce reference work.  (I knew Klickstein: he was devoted to medical history and was an all-around good fellow - NK).  ($150)  $75

McMURTRIE, Douglas C.  [TWO TITLES] THE BEGINNINGS OF PRINTING IN FLORIDA and A PRELIMINARY SHORT-TITLE CHECK LIST OF BOOKS, PAMPHLETS AND BROADSIDES PRINTED IN FLORIDA 1784 – 1860.  1944 & 1937.The first title, "The Beginnings of Printing in Florida" was published by The Book Farm in Hattiesburg, Miss., 1944.  It measures 9 x 6 inches in printed blue wrappers with some light age-toning.  36 pages, illustrated with facsimiles.  Front lower corner creased, overall a very good copy.  The second title, "A Preliminary Short-Title Check List. . ." was a WPA publication from Jacksonville, Florida in 1937.  It measures 11 x 8 1/2 inches in printed blue wrappers with some light sun-fading and markings to cover.  15 pages.  Overall, a very good copy.  The two for:  ($45)  $20
