Reeves & Turner, 1880. First Edition. Original cloth. First book by this 
alcoholic poet and prophet of despair whom Stanley Kunitz called "the 
most complete pessimist, perhaps, that literature has ever known." The 
title poem of this volume, his masterpiece, is one of the greatest of 
the nineteenth century. Small bookplate neatly removed from the front 
pastedown. Minor nicks to the spine tips and edge. A very attractive
