Alexander Ross: Mystagogus Poeticus, or The Muses Interpreter:

the Muses Treasurers the second time discovered, and the Gardens of
Parnassus disclosed more fully, whence many flowers of usefull,
delightfull, and rare Observations, never touched by any other

An encyclopedic survey of Greek and Roman mythology and literature by
Alexander Ross (1590-1654), Scottish writer, Royalist,
controversialist and chaplain to Charles I. Ross, as the
"Interpreter", appends a lengthy analysis to each entry, discussing
the subject's history and citations from literature, and often adding
a Christian moral for good measure.
