Anonymous.  THE SHOE BLACK AND OTHER STORIES FOR YOUNG FOLKS. TALES OF TRUTH AND LOVE. Boston: D. Lothrop & Co., 1869. Duodecimo. Original printed pictorial tan wrappers. 59pp. plus a one page ad and another ad on the inside of the rear wrapper. Frontispiece plus an illustration on the rear wrapper signed by John Andrew. Very good.  A curious piece, the title on the wrapper, "The Shoe Black..." is not repeated on the title page, there the title appears as "Tales of Truth and Love". On the title verso is a statement that this is reprinted from the Religious Tract Society of London. Quite scarce. OCLC does not locate any copies but the American Antiquarian Society does hold the imprint. Five tales; Jack The Shoeblack; Beldina; Going Home; The Genesee Girl; Tommy and his Raven. Postpaid $95.00
