EARHART, Amelia. THE FUN OF IT. RANDOM RECORDS OF MY OWN FLYING AND OF
WOMEN IN AVIATION. New York: Brewer, Warren & Putnam, 1932. First
Edition. Illustrated with 31 photographs. SIGNED by the famous aviator
on the center of the front free endpaper. Ink name and 1932 date at the
top of the front endpaper with a note at the bottom of that page in the
same hand describing the circumstances that led to the purchase of this
autographed book during an August 1932 appearance by Earhart at a
department store in Los Angeles. Lacking the recording in the rear
pocket. Bright copy with just mild sunning to the spine tips. About
Fine, lacking as usual the uncommon dustwrapper.
An assortment of autobiographical reminiscences and thoughts on the
history of flight, women pilots, and the future of aviation, published
shortly after Earhart became the first woman to fly alone over the
Atlantic Ocean. In July 1937 Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan vanished
in the central Pacific after completing more than two-thirds of a flight
around the world. (#015319) $2,000.00
