CATT, Carrie Chapman & SHULER, Nettie Rogers. WOMAN SUFFRAGE AND
POLITICS: THE INNER STORY OF THE SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT. New York: Charles
Scribner's Sons, 1923. First Edition. SIGNED by Catt on the front
endpaper, as sometimes found. In addition, on the recto of the following
blank page of this copy, Catt has written and filled the page with the
following SIGNED statement: "In this story of the Suffrage campaign, no
attempt has been made to relate the services of women -- How could we --
there were so many. But the movement never had but one 'diplomatic
corps' -- and that was Helen Gardiner, wise head, willing feet and hands
and loving heart, a human masterpiece! We could not have won without
her! Carrie Chapman Catt." Some sunning to spine. Very Good or better,
lacking the dustwrapper.

Carrie Chapman Catt (1859-1947) succeeded Susan B. Anthony as President
of the National American Woman Suffrage Association in 1900 and played
an essential role in bringing about the passage of the Nineteenth
Amendment in 1920, the same year she founded The League of Women Voters.
