B. W. Huebsch, 1906. First edition.  Original boards stamped in gilt, corner of rear end papers & back cover soiled, text and illustrations not affected. All illustrations present, as listed, some double-page.  Lilien was the most influential Jewish artist of his day – often referred to as the First Zionist artist. In this same year (1906) he was in Palestine  teaching and establishing an art school.   The illustrations are Biblical themes rendered in the art nouveau style, some quite reminiscent of Beardsley. This is a very hard book to find.  You may not see another.
