TITLE: “American Silver Mounted Swords, 1700-1815. A Catalog of an
Exhibition Held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art”

By Harold L. Peterson.
Privately printed in 1955.
Edition limited to 600 copies.

DISCUSSION: This important catalog had its inception in the loan
exhibition, “The Sword in America, 1000-1954”, held at the Corcoran
Gallery. Included in the exhibition were 80 American silver mounted
swords, “the great majority of all known specimens of such American silver
work”. Because there was no catalog to the Corcoran exhibition a small
group of enthusiasts, including Harold Peterson, joined together to raise
money privately to produce some record, and this catalog is the result. It
includes small swords and sabers & hunting swords with flat cap, lion
head, dog head, eagle head, bird’s head and pillow pommels.

DESCRIPTION: Softcover. 6”x9”, 59 pages, black & white illustrations.

CONDITION NOTES: Minor wear, covers with some darkening and soil, rear
cover with a very short rip.

PRICE: $75.00
