Knights of Rizal, March 12, 1928, signed by Louise Ruth Shapiro on behalf
of Joseph F.S. Fitzpatrick, Secretary of State. Trenton, NJ: , 1928.
Original edition. Broadside, painted in colors and illuminated with gold
leaf. States that the Filipino Knights of Rizal organized June 19, 1925 and
were chartered on March 14, 1928. Supreme Council: Joseph R. Asuncin,
Theodore S. Abaya, Mamerto Buenare, Vicenta Belluran, Julian Tableton,
Albert Young. Lists the Trustees and 12 Charter Members. "Represented by
Bro. Honofre Javier." Decorations include a book and candles, crossed
flags, and an elaborate border scroll. In an old wooden frame.  Image, 26"
x 20". Frame, 27.5" x 21". Very Good. Framed.
This brotherhood is named for Dr. Jose Rizal, national hero of the
Philippines. Rizal inspired the Philippine Revolution and was executed by
firing squad on 30 December 1896 at the age of thirty-five, after leading
his country to independence from Spain on June 12, 1896.
The Order of the Knights of Rizal was established on 30 December 1911, and
was granted a legislative charter as a civic and patriotic organization on
14 June 1951, according to the Knights of Rizal website.          $250.00
