TWAIN, Mark [CLEMENS, Samuel]. THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER. Cambridge: 
Limited Editions Club, 1939. Octavo (6-1/4" x 9-1/2") bound in full blue 
denim with a paper spine label. Edited with an introduction by Bernard 
DeVoto. Designed by C. P. Rollins. Illustrated with 70 drawings by 
Thomas Hart Benton. Of a total edition of 1500 copies SIGNED by the 
artist on the colophon page, this is one of only 25 Presentation Copies 
with the publisher's blindstamp attesting to such on the colophon page 
where the printed number "168" is struck through and the initials "G.M." 
and "Office Copy" are handwritten. Acquired directly from the 
publisher's files, and most likely the publisher George Macy's very own 
copy. Paper split to the rear hinge but cover is tight. Spine a bit 
sunned with the label a little wrinkled. Near Fine in a complete 
slipcase with the backstrip detached on three edges. (#016355)
