Sadleir's state "ii," without title on front cover, etc.  Trollope himself contributed the section "On Hunting."  Sadleir does not note this printing in this color cloth.  Largely unopened.  Spine has some small tears, front cover has small white stain, back cover slightly rubbed.  ($40)  $20

[HEMINGWAY, Ernest and DOS PASSOS, John].  QUINTANILLA.  N.Y.: Pierre Matisse Gallery, 1934.  First edition.   One sheet of coated paper, approximately 18 x 19.25 inches, folded twice.  Hemingway's essay on this Spanish Republican artist occupies two-thirds of one side, while Dos Passos' essay occupies one third of the other.  The title-fold includes a reproduction of one of the dry-points.  Below Hemingway's essay there is a list of Quintanilla's works on display at the Gallery, which was owned by the younger son of Henri Matisse.  Hannemann B16.  A nice copy of a scarce Hemingway/Dos Passos ephemeron. ($50)  $25

ELZEVIR PRINTING] STONE, Aaron, (Anglus.)  DISPUTATIO PHILOSOPHICA DE ANIMA EJUSQUE IMMORTALITATE & IMMATERIALITATE  . . .  Leyden, 1677.  Small 4to, bound in modern leather-backed colorful marbled boards. Six leaves, some old corrections in text. Nice printer's mark on title page, engraved tail piece on last leaf. Some pages closely trimmed across the top, with some words affected. On verso of the the title page Stone describes himself as a Staffordshire native, "In agro Staffordiensi Armigero, Parenti aeternum honorando."  Stone's doctoral thesis was supervised by the Rev. Prof. Gothofredi Spinaei. Apparently not in  Willems, "Les Elzevier Histoire..."  ($125)  $80

From The Jaguar Smile, A Nicaraguan Journey, by Salman Rushdie, published in 1987.  Illustration by Bob Baldock; designed by Bob Baldock and Eric Johnson; printed at the West Coast Print Center.  "This is a gift from Black Oak Books, Berkeley, on the occasion of a reading by Salman Rushdie."  The excerpt regards musings on the Nicaraguan Revolution.  Excellent condition.  ($40)  $25

1st US edition. Neatly, but not professionally, rebound in white cloth. Illustrated with 10 plates as called for (American Imprints, 20072). Text and plates clean.  ($40)  $20

SCHNECK, Benjamin S.  DIE DEUTSCHE KANZEL:  Eine Sammlung Auserlesener Predigten der neuesten Zeit.  Zweite Auflage.  [The German Pulpit...]  Chambersburg: Druckerei der Hochdeutsch Reformirten Kirche, 1845.  Octavo (approx 8.5 x 5.5 inches).  Contemporary full red leather, both covers with gilt flower & leaf design in center and blind-stamped double-ruled border with corner ornaments; gold rules, ornaments & title on spine.  Edges rubbed, front joint worn at top and bottom, but a sound copy of this interesting Pennsylvania binding.  (Probably by the anonymous Chambersburg binder described in item 44 of "Bookbinding in America," Bryn Mawr, 1983, as "a skilled craftsman and sensitive designer." (Plate 2  also illustrates one of his bindings.)  ($50)  $30
