(1983).  First edition.  Original gold-stamped cloth, nice copy in  dust wrapper.  With an interesting signed presentation on the title page by Harrison, "In memory of our South Pacific voyage together, Robinson               Crusoe Is. Feb. 86." ($40)  $20

LUCAN [Marcus Annaeus Lucanus].  LUCANUS.  Venice: In aedibus Aldi et Andreae Soceri, 1515.  
Original printer's vellum wraps with chipped leather spine label, somewhat darkened with some warping, approx. half an inch at top of spine missing, a few minor marks, binding solid; some tears in rear pastedown revealing a 15th- or 16th-century French document written on the verso.  Approx. 6" x 3.5", 137 ff. + [6] pp.  Printer's device on verso of final page, moderate wormholing sometimes affecting text, scattered light foxing, overall clean, bright, and unmarked; partially removed sticker on front pastedown, ink gift inscription on front free end-paper.  Adams L 1564.  An interesting copy of this second Aldine edition of Lucan, with contributions from Marco Antonio Mauroceno.

HOUGH, Emerson.  THE WEB.  Chicago, 1919.  First edition, brown cloth binding in very good condition, dust jacket chipped at edges with mild staining on spine, &c.  511 pages, includes folding chart of the organization of this civilian vigilante group.  BAL 9354. ($40)  $20

MARTIAL [Marcus Valerius Martialis].  M. VAL. MARTIALIS EX MUSEO PETRI SCRIVERII.  Amsterdam, 1621.  Contemporary binding by the Atelier de Mace Ruette; full gilt-stamped red leather with inlaid brown leather florets also gilt-stamped, spine bands, corners and edges lightly rubbed, spine very slightly darkened, hinges partially cracked but holding, small crack around floret on rear board, tiny hole in leather on front board, gilt bright, leather soft, binding tight and solid, fine overall.  Approx. 4.5" x 2.25", 318 pp.  Marbled end-papers with front free end-paper partially detached, all edges gilt, engraved title page with cupids and satyrs, light toning, faint ruling marks, some minor misprints of page numbers not affecting overall pagination; previous owners' marks on front flyleaf and verso of rear free end-paper, including "Stanley 1813" in pencil, likely referring to Col. Thomas Stanley, whose books were sold in April 1813.  A beautiful and scarce little book, with 5 U.S.  copies in OCLC.  ($350)  $250
