(BUKOWSKI, Charles). COFFIN I. Eureka, CA: Hearse Press, n.d. [1964].
First Edition. Printed folder containing 42 broadsides of various sizes
published between 1960 and 1964 and included here in together for the
first time. Contains three small broadsides by Bukowski: "The Old Man on
The Corner," "His Wife the Painter," and "Waste Basket," as well as the
leaflet, "The Paper on the Floor." Other contributors include Henry
Miller. Fine in a Fine folder.
In a letter from editor E.V. Griffith about this work that was sold with
another copy, he stated: "The correct number of items in the COFFIN
portfolio is 41, but it is listed in some dealers' catalogs as
containing less. I suspect that the disparity is because two
much-sought- after items---Fielding Dawson's 'The Canoe' and Larry
Eigner's 'God/ but the silence grows'-- are sometimes filched from the
portfolio by dealers and sold seperately." (#016677) $2,000.00
