Ickes, Harold L. [ADVANCE DRAFT] COLUMNISTS AND CALUMNISTS. [n.p.]. 
[1939] [1], 16 pp. 8 1/2 x 11 inc. Stapled sheets. A typed advance 
copy sent to newspaper editors, of Harold L. Ickes speech, 
'Columnists and Calumnists', a tirade against columnists, delivered 
to the Newspaper Guild of New York City, April 11, 1939 at 
approximately 10:30 a. m., at the Hotel Astor in New York. The speech 
was also broadcast over CBS radio (and later reprinted in Ickes': 
America's House of Lords: an inquiry into the freedom of the press). 
Ickes was Secretary of the Interior under FDR and in this speech he 
named names in his withering criticism of the misuse of the press. 
Many, if not all of his points, are still valid today. Near fine,

be billed. Trade allowance. Postage for Domestic orders is $5.00 for 
the first book and $2.50 for each additional volume. Books are 
normally shipped Media Mail. For international orders, postage is 
calculated individually. All books may be returned in original 
condition for any reason within two weeks with prior notification.
