A handsome collection of the writings of Charles James Apperley, aka "Nimrod" (1777-1843), a devoted sportsman and fox-hunter who, driven by debt, turned to writing and became one of the preeminent chroniclers of the sporting world of his time. One of the "deluxe" edition limited to 50 copies (as opposed to the not-so- deluxe limited edition of 500 copies), with each of the plates provided in two states, 18 colored and 18 black and white, with captioned glassine tissue-guards, the letterpress finely printed on laid paper with deckled edges. Light soiling to the boards with some darkening and wear/chipping to the edges, offsetting/toning to the the endpapers, a few leaves with foxing at the extremities, early gift inscription on the front paste-down, otherwise just about Fine: contents clean, fresh and bright, the plates with rich, vivid coloring. A superior copy.
