Humphrey Prideaux: The True Nature of Imposture Fully Display’d in the Life of Mahomet. With a Discourse Annex’d for the Vindication of Christianity from this Charge. Offered to the Consideration of the Deists of the Present Age. London: Printed for E. Curll, 1723. Later paper-covered boards with leather spine label; 8vo; xvi[i.e.xvii], [3], 260 pp.; woodcut decorations and initials. ESTC T138493.

The Discourse has a separate title-page dated 1722, but the pagination and register are continuous. Spine head bumped, rear joint splitting, but binding is secure; some wear to the fore-edges of the first three leaves; scattered mild to moderate foxing and toning; otherwise clean and sound, firmly bound. A less than hagiographic biography of the prophet Muhammad, accompanied by a "letter to the Deists", both works intended as an argument against "the great prevailing Infidelity in the present Age", by Humphrey Prideaux (1648-1724), deacon of Norwich and a respected orientalist who donated his library to Clare College, Cambridge.
