Folio (33.5 cm) in sheep-backed marbled boards; [4], 13, [1] pp.; with the half-title, lacking the leaf of adverts; woodcut decorations and initial. ESTC T5709; Foxon P920; Griffith 329.

The half-title reads: ''Of the Knowledge and Characters of Men: to Richard Lord Cobham, By Mr. Pope.'' Spine is worn, with the leather split along the bottom half of the rear hinge and some loss to the spine foot; text block is detached and loose in the binding; several leaves with contemporary ink underlining and marginalia; small splash marks to two pages.
