UPON PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMY: AND ADAPTED TO THE USE OF PRIVATE FAMILIES. 
London: John Murray, 1807. Second Edition. Small octavo (3-3/4" x 
6-1/8") bound in recent calf-backed marbled boards with a gilt-stamped 
black morocco spine label; [xxii], lvii, 486 pages, with engraved 
frontispiece and nine engraved plates. The First Edition of 1806 had 
only 290 pages; this Second Edition, while not quite as scarce, is 
considerably enlarged and improved with more illustrations. Bitting, p. 
410 (citing the earliest edition as 1810); Cagle 971 (the Third Edition, 
also 1807, but with fewer pages); The Dictionary of National Biography: 
"the earliest manual of household management with any pretensions to 
completeness." Early manuscript recipes on the rectos of the 
frontispiece and the rear endpaper. Occasional and moderate foxing and
