Boston: Henry Tolman & Co., 1861. Paper covers, Folio, [3 pages]. Very good.
          Unusual copy of the "Star Spangled Banner," printed with 
Oliver Wendell Holmes' fifth stanza in place. Holmes' lyrics are very 
much of their moment at the outbreak of the Civil War, as seen in this 
sample: "If a foe from within strike a blow at her glory, Down, down 
with the traitor that dares defile the flag of her stars and the page of 
her story!" Lovely cover printed in red and blue shows a large 34-star 
flag (of 1861-1863) under the title "National Melodies." Tied together 
with ribbons at spine. Fore edges have a few short tears, but overall 
very good. Scarce.......    $250.00
