John Gill: The Doctrine of Predestination Stated, and set in the Scripture-Light; in Opposition to Mr. Wesley’s Predestination calmly Consider’d. With a Reply to the Exceptions of the said Writer to the Doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints. London: Printed and sold by G. Keith; J. Robinson; Mr. Edwards, at Hallifax; Mr. Akenhead, at Newcastle; and Mr. Taylor at Berwick, 1752. FIRST EDITION. Small 8vo; 50 pp. ESTC T89593.

The Baptists and the Methodists go at it. Disbound from a nonce volume, with remnants of the earlier binding on the spine; later stitch binding; title-page browned and soiled with a closed tear near the spine; last four leaves detached, last leaf soiled and with a hole affecting several words; some general light toning and creases to the leaves, dust-soiling to the edges. A rough but complete copy of an important and rather uncommon tract: a search of ESTC locates only five copies in the UK and only one in the U.S. (Library of Congress).
