“The Holy Voice. A Discourse, delivered before The Society of the Rev.
David Damon, in West Cambridge, Mass. on Friday, May 14, 1841, the Day of
the National Fast, appointed in consequence of the Death of William Henry
Harrison, President of the United States”

By Norwood Damon.
Printed in Boston by Charles C. Little and James Brown in 1841.

DISCUSSION: President Harrison, "Tippecanoe" of "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too"
fame was the first U.S. President to die in office. he is said to have
caught pneumonia after refusing to wear a hat during his inauguration
speech on a cold, wet day, but in fact he did not become ill until more
than 3 weeks after the inauguration. Given that his doctors treated him
with a combination of opium, castor oil, leeches, and Virginia snakeweed,
it may have been as much the cure as the disease that did away with the
68-year old war hero. A very nice early Presidential Eulogy -in fact, the
earliest President you can get for a President who died in office, as
Harrison was the first!

DESCRIPTION: Softcover, 5.5"x9", 16 pages. Interestingly, there are four
period minor penned text corrections -obviously someone was reading from
the copy.

CONDITION NOTES: Minor soil, but otherwise clean and nice.

PRICE: $100 -
