BLAINE, James G. TWENTY YEARS OF CONGRESS: FROM LINCOLN TO GARFIELD WITH 
A REVIEW OF THE EVENTS WHICH LED TO THE POLITICAL REVOLUTION OF 1860. 
Norwich, CT: The Henry Bill Publishing Company, 1884. First Edition. Two 
thick octavo volumes in the deluxe binding of full sheepskin with 
contrasting morocco spine labels. Illustrated with steel-engraved 
portraits and a folding map. Fine, bright set and uncommon in this 
binding in this condition.

James G. Blaine (1830-1893) was elected to Congress in 1862 where he 
served as Speaker of the House. He also served in the U. S. Senate and 
barely lost the presidential race in 1884 to Grover Cleveland after one 
of the dirtiest and most colorful campaigns in American history.
