Copper engraved headpiece and historiated initial. Cont. mottled calf, elaborately gilt spine with brown calf label. Hinges cracked but cords holding nicely. Lediard (1685-1743), a man of
 independent means, wrote on many subjects. Prior to penning this work he had been the secretary to His Majesty's ambassador to Lower Germany.
