2/11/14

Each day we offer a Theodore Roosevelt related item.

Caspar Whitney exemplified American manliness in many of the same ways that TR stood as an exemplar of the American character. They shared many of the same passions, outlooks and adventures.

We offer the following postpaid @ $45.00 and net to all;

Association Copy of Theodore Roosevelt's Autobiography

Roosevelt, Theodore. An Autobiography. New York: Charles Scribner's Son's, 1919. $45.00
Later printing; octavo; pp. 647 with index; blue cloth, gilt with an embossed circular portrait of TR at center of board; frontispiece portrait plus numerous illustrations; very good, a 1/4 inch damp stain affects the fore edge of the last few leaves. Caspar Whitney's copy signed by the War Correspondent. Whitney was an American author, editor, explorer, outdoorsman and war correspondent.[ He originated the concept of the All-American team in college football in 1889 when he worked for Harper's Magazine. Whitney was present at Las Guasimas when TR led the Rough Riders. He corresponded with Roosevelt over many years. This format has many more illustrations than the earlier editions, is a bit smaller and a nice edition.
