This is the catalog for an exhibition of poster art held at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall's Chung Cheng Gallery in downtown Taipei in 1996, focused on the work of 19th and 20th century poster illustrators including Jules Cheret, Toulouse-Lautrec, Picasso, Bonnard, Mucha and Steinlen.  These artists not only helped to change the face of advertising, but their depictions of social humanity were catalysts for a more modern way of thinking about gender and class.  The exhibition featured European works from the collection of Jacques-Paul Athias, as well as contemporary works of Taiwanese and mainland Chinese poster design.
