Binding: Original Wraps
Condition: Very Good

Description:
12mo. Chapbook. Original printed pale blue
wrappers. 28 pp. Some old sewing along spine,
likely not original. Wrappers are discolored &
chipped around edges, some foxing to pages.
Almost certainly issued with a coloured
frontispiece - which is lacking, although the
possibility exists that this was some form of
cheaper issue offered without one, but the book
is itself is in the publisher's list of titles on
the front wrapper, offered 'At Sixpence each,
with coloured Frontispieces, neatly done up." A
solid near-VG copy of a very scarce pamphlet,
almost never seen in original wrappers.
Comments:
¶ A rare early nineteenth century chapbook
account of the life and prophecies of Richard
Nixon, the 'Cheshire Prophet'. Robert Nixon, who
was born in either the 15th or 17th century
(accounts vary), was a cunning man and prophet.
Included is a collection of the Prophecies of
'Mother Shipton'. Ursula Southeil (c. 1488 -
1561), better known as 'Mother Shipton', perhaps
the most famous of all English witches.
$225.00 Cdn postpaid.
