Kyoto Geishas.  KAMOGAWA-ODORI PICTORIAL DANCE PROGRAM. Kyoto, Japan: s.n.,
(1920). Original edition. 72pp; illustrated throughout in various colors,
showing tea houses serving as theaters, musicians, etc., along with 18
pages of vignette portraits of the performers (nearly 150 in all),
extensive text in Japanese, and one page in English being a History of
Kamogawa-Odori. The many portraits of geishas are captioned with their
names in Japanese as well as English. On the back cover is an ad for
Takashimaya & Co. Ltd, Silks & Embroideries.  Bound in color-pictorial
rice-paper wrappers, decorated in silver and gilt, string-tied spine.  A
clean, tight example of this rarity.  5.75" x 8.75"

The first performance of Kamogawa Odori was in 1872. The Immortalgeisha
website dates our cover to 1920.  [WorldCat finds no holdings of this
program. The earliest similar is a 1929 edition, held by NYPL, Harvard, and
