TITLE: “The Preservation of St. Paul's Cathedral & other Famous 
Buildings”

By William Harvey.
Published in London by The Architectural Press in 1925.

DISCUSSION: A pioneering work in preservation literature, "a text book 
on the new science of conservation, including an analysis of movements 
in historical structures prior to their fall".  The text includes past 
failed methods of repair as well as the up-to-date scientific techniques 
just being developed. Chapters include:

- What is Wrong with St. Paul's?
- Considerations of Details
- Contrasted Methods of Repair
- How to Save the Dome
- How Great Buildings Fail
- The Conservator's Art
- The Benefits and Economy of Conservation.

DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 6"x9", xiv + 153 pages, 71 black & white 
illustrations; publisher's black boards with white lettering, red cloth 
spine.

CONDITION NOTES: The covers have some light wear and soil. The book 
interior has some minor soil and a little age-spotting, but otherwise is 
clean and nice, with a tight binding.
