Curley, Governor James M. Address Of His Excellency James M. Curley To The Two Branches Of The Legislature Of Massachusetts, January 1, 1936. Boston: Wright & Potter Printing Co., 1936.
First edition; Quarto; pp. 65; frontispiece portrait by the White Studio, Boston with embossed stamp; red morocco, gilt; inner dentelles, marbled end papers, all edges gilt; It appears to be a presentation binding. Abrasion at the foot of the spine with one inch loss otherwise very good. There are no ownership or presentation markings. Remarkably OCLC only locates one recorded copy at Yale. Curley was that most remarkable politician who had the love of the electorate and loved them in return. "He Got Things Done". He rose through the hazy quasi criminal ward politics of an increasing Irish population coming to power. He fought for the Irish and the poor. His criminality led him to two prison terms later commuted. There is no more emblematic Irish Urban Power Broker-Politician than James Michael Curley. This address oozes Progressive Democratic political solutions.
