DISCUSSION: The catalog to an important loan exhibition of Dutch
maritime Art of the Golden Age which drew art from many collections in
Germany and the Netherlands, as well as Austria, Belgium, Denmark,
England, Russia, Sweden, the United States and the Bahamas. In addition
to the scholarly catalog of art works, biographies of artists, and a
glossary of 17th century Dutch ships, there are several essays: Maritime
History in Paintings, Seascapes as Historical Sources, by Remmelt
Daalder - What One Can do with a Pen, Pen Paintings of Maritime Scenes,
by Friso Lammertse - Seascape as History and Metaphor, by Lawrence O.
Goedde.
DESCRIPTION: Softcover. 9.5"x11.5", 471 pages, color and black & white
illustrations.
CONDITION NOTES: The covers have some light wear and soil and the
corners are thumbed (please see the photos, above and below). The book
interior has some minor soil, but otherwise is clean and nice, with a
tight binding.
