ELLARD, Harry. BASE BALL IN CINCINNATI. A HISTORY. Cincinnati: (Johnson
& Hardin), 1907. First Edition. Subscription Edition. Handsome
gilt-decorated white cloth. Illustrated with full-page reproductions of
photographs and line drawings. One of 500 copies printed, this
unnumbered. While this book is occasionally seen in later editions,
this First Edition is very scarce. The history of Queen City baseball
goes back to the Cincinnati Red Stockings who in 1869 won the first game
ever played by a professional baseball team. In 1935 the Cincinnati Reds
won the first night game played in the major leagues at Crosley Field.
Minor soiling to the spine; elaborate owner name of Richard Phillips on
the front endpaper. Near Fine, bright copy and scarce, especially in
