Newly Composed, Digested, and Augmented... (London): Nicholas Oakes for Thomas Adams. 1615. Sm. 8vo. (xiv),254pp. Lacking first and last leaves, both blanks. Title within a woodcut border. Text with 3 nice woodcuts, one full-page. Text mostly printed in black letter, with numerous tables and symbols throughout. Orig. limp vellum, re-cased and repaired. Title a bit soiled with some minor restoration. A very nice clean copy. Scarce.    $1,250.00 (trade discount allowed)
The second edition after the first edition in 1612. Hopton (1588?-1614), was an English astrologer and author of almanacks and "prognostications for the year." The content of A CONCORDANCY OF YEARS served as a practical guide to English daily life, with chapters such as "The principal faires throughout the year" and an "astronomical guide for Physick and Chyrurgere, depending upon the place and course of the moone," and rules for bathing (not too often).
