boards. Introductory Note by Henry Chapin. The first publication of most 
of these poems since the original 1888 edition of only 25 copies. Of a 
total of 1675 copies, this is copy #3 of 150 and is SIGNED by the 
designer, Frederique Warde. In addition this copy is INSCRIBED on the 
front blank by Warde: "With its companion volume/'The Apple-Tree 
Table'/To Carroll H. Huddleston/With the heartiest/expressions of 
admiration/Frederique Warde/December 30, 1922/New York City." Wear to 
edges of the boards. Good, solid copy.

Frederique Warde was appointed Director of the Princeton University 
Press in 1922. Ward tinkered occasionally with both his first and last 
names, and at this time used the French "Frederique" before settling on
