George Saville Carey: The Balnea: or, An Impartial Description of All the Watering Places in England, Interspersed with original Sketches and incidental Anecdotes, in Excursions to Margate, Ramsgate, [et al]. With Observations on several ancient and respectable Towns and Cities leading to the above remarkable Places… The third edition, considerably enlarged. London: Printed by R. Noble for West and Hughes [et al], 1801. Full period tree calf; 12mo (14 cm); vii, [1], 243, [1] pp.; engraved portrait frontispiece.

An indispensable guide for gout-riddled balneologists of the late-Georgian and Regency eras, with descriptions of Tunbridge Wells, Brighton, Bath, Bognar, Weymouth, Harrowgate, Scarborough, and other restorative bathing resorts. Binding with light rubbing, wear to the corners, chipping to the spine label; joints professionally repaired; some browning to the title-page and frontispiece, toning and occasional modest spotting to the contents; six leaves (pp. 13-24) bound out of order; old tissue repair to the top of one leaf, two others with loss to the margins, not affecting the text.
