Charles Dickens: [Collected Works.] "Illustrated Sterling Edition." Boston: Dana Estes & Company, [undated but ca. 1890?]. Fifteen volumes (complete). Thick 8vos (21.5 cm) bound in early/period half calf and marbled/gilt boards; gilt-tooled spines and gilt-lettered spine labels, marbled endpapers, top page edges gilt; tissue-guarded engraved frontispieces and numerous black & white plates.

A complete set, with the illustrations by George Cruikshank, Hablot K. Browne ("Phiz"), Frederick Barnard and others. Occasional rubbing to the boards; wear to the edges, corners and spine ends; spines a bit rubbed and sunned, a few with small chips to the spine labels; rubbing to the joints with some joints/hinges cracking but all the boards are secure. Contents very good: light toning to the leaves, but generally very clean and crisp, firmly bound; many/most volumes appear never to have been read.
