Taplin, Frank E. F.E.T. JOURNAL: A VISIT TO INDIA, October 1979. Original
manuscript. 73pp, quarto, mimeographed typescript, signed at the end by
Frank E. Taplin. Laid in is a handwritten, two-page letter from Taplin to
Margaret and Bob Goheen, dated November 13, 1979, and thanking them for
hosting the Taplins October visit to India. Also laid in is an ALS from
Jeremiah S. Finch of Princeton, forwarding a 1-1/2-page poem, "Rajasthan"
by Samuel Taylor Akbar, with improvements and suggestions by Peg and Frank
[Taplin]."
Robert Goheen (1919-2008) served as President of Princeton University from
1957 to 1972, and US Ambassador to India, 1977-1980, accompanied by his
wife, Margaret. ~ Frank E. Taplin (1915-2003) was a classical pianist and
respected intellectual, a Class V member of the American Philosophical
Society, and a philanthropist. His life was memorialized by the likes of
Robert Goheen and George Kennan, among others. [WorldCat records other
