Dramatic Table Talk : or Scenes, Situations & Adventures, Serious & Comic, in Theatrical History & Biography. London: John Knight & Henry Lacey, 1825-30. FIRST EDITION. Three volumes, 8vo (16.75 cm), in later half morocco and pebbled cloth, spines decorated and lettered in gilt, marbled page edges; li, [1], 288 pp.; x, 288 pp; ix, [1], 297 pp.; with engraved title-pages and 21 engraved plates, 8 of which are folding (complete).

A handsome set of this lively collection of theatre lore and backstage tittle-tattle, anecdotes of playwrights and actors past and present, descriptions of theatres, etc. The plates include the Interior of the Red Bull Theatre, the Golden Lane Theatre, the Old Drury Lane Theatre, portraits of Garrick and Mrs. Wolfington, facsimiles of letters written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan and Colley Cibber, Shakespeare's Pedigree, etc. Bindings with light wear to the corners; some foxing and offsetting to and from the plates, otherwise the contents are very clean and crisp, firmly bound. Engraved armorial bookplates of James McDonald ("Nec tempore nec fato").
