Lot of Ephemera Regarding PT Boats in WWII

Certificate of Successful Completion from the United States Navy Naval 
Training School at Princeton University for W. D. (William Danforth) 
Compton, April 9, 1943. Certificate measures 8" x 10.5" has a Cruiser at 
center and is signed by a Captain. Residue of paper on verso where 
removed from an album.

Compton, William Danforth. Autograph letter signed on "Motor Torpedo 
Boat Squadron Training Center" stationery, Melville R.I. No date c1943 
to Dear Anna, Dean E. & Mrs. E. Two pages (6,5" x 9.5" ) with a drawing 
of a quonset hut at center. Detailed description of training for the PT 
Boat Service. ".. the cooks learn gunnery as well... we learn every job 
from repairing engines to operating radio... Newport was never like 
this." Compton is married to the daughter of "Dean E". the Dean of 
Princeton University, noted Mathematician Luther Eisenhart.

(8.5 x 11") Details follow, G. R. Van Ness

Higgins Industries Inc. Typed Letter Signed to William Danforth Compton, 
"Dear Dan", on "Higgins" stationery, New Orleans. July 19, 1943. They 
are sending Compton a template of an airfoil that they are building for 
windshields on the PT Boats. They are hoping he can utilize this for his 
boat and that it will "react favorably". Residue on verso of letter 
where removed from album.
