The Parisian Ladies of Fashion to Their American Sisters - Rigaud & Co.
An interesting promotional pamphlet for French perfumes, apparently
published to coincide with the Centennial Exposition is 1876. The text
describes the variety of perfumes supplied by the Rigaud firm, and is
illustrated with drawings of American and French architectural scenes,
including, on the rear cover, a fantastically inept representation of
the Statue of Liberty, labeled “Independence Memorial Lighthouse”. The
perfumers may be forgiven- in 1876 only the torch-bearing arm was
actually in America, being exhibited at the Centennial Exposition in
Philadelphia. Uncommon- OCLC locates three examples.
Softcover. 3.5”x5.25”, 14 pages, line illustrations in blue. Minor soil.
[42952] $125
