William Somervile: The Chase; A Poem. London: Printed by W. Bulmer and Co., Shakespeare Printing Office [for] T. Cadell and W. Davies, 1804. Tall 8vo (24 cm) in early/period full calf decorated and lettered in gilt; [4], xxiii, [1], 105, [1] pp.; with extra wood-engraved title page (dated 1802), woodcut vignettes.

Somervile's classic paean to hunting, horses and hounds, first published in 1735, is here presented with thirteen charming woodcuts by Thomas Bewick and John Bewick, the latter's last published work. Binding with modest wear and darkening to the extremities, the rear board singed with loss to the leather; contents with mild toning and the occasional stray small spot; front paste-down with the early engraved bookplate of Edward Wickham.
